The Azzurri midfielder has stated that the young Italian team played a good friendly game despite emerging as losers at the end of the 90 minutes.

The Bologna midfielder was one of the few senior players in the Azzurri playing eleven against the Three Lions, as six players from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Switzerland-c3016.
Diamanti was adamant that the defeat has left its sting, but maintained that the boys played a good game despite being a young side against a strong international team.
The Azzurri player went on to stress that they could have won the game with a bit of luck, as they were caught off-guard when trying to score in the opposition’s half.
The Bologna-man also went on to joke that considering the average age of the Italian team that was fielded against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749, he feels like a grand-dad.
While talking to the press, the 29-year-old said:
“Nobody can be satisfied when losing, but we had a good game and were unlucky on the second goal, as we were about to score and they got us on the counter-attack. I’m a granddad compared to those who played today!”
Diamanti was adamant that the Italian youngsters have a lot of talent, and insisted that they maybe young but they are ready to take their first steps in the senior international football.
The Bologna midfielder was appreciative of the position that he was played in, but maintained that he would have gladly played in any other position if asked to do so.
“These are young lads who need to grow, but in my view they are ready to start this journey and have real talent. I found my position straight away, in all honesty. If it were up to me would I play as trequartista? I’d happily play in goal!”
Diamanti also expressed his praise for Mattia Destro, and stressed that the talented striker is only going to get better with the passage of time.
