http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alessandro-Matri-c4733: Juventus deserved to win against Genoa on Saturday – Serie A Update
Juventus striker, Alessandro Matri, has claimed that they deserved to win the home game against Genoa on Saturday. The game ended in a 2-2 stalemate and it was recorded as fourth draw of the season for Juve.
The Turin giants lost the top spot in the Serie A after failing to secure maximum 3 points for the fourth time this season.
Matri gave an early lead to the Old Lady after scoring the opening goal with just six minutes on the clock. However, the visitors equalized in the dying minutes of the first half. Matri scored the second goal 7 minutes into the second half but unfortunately
for the hosts, Genoa were able to bounce back in the last 5 minutes to hold Juve to a draw.
However, the 27-year-old hitman believes that they deserved to win as they had worked very hard for a victory. The forward reckons that the brace is good for a confidence boost, but the victory against Genoa would have been even better. While talking to
the media, he said:
"We deserved to win and we had built up our hopes. Instead, this unexpected draw occurred. The two goals are useful for my morale, but obtaining the three points would have been better. Now, we want to immediately get on our feet again and forget this evening.
I don’t mean the game, I think it’s been positive, but the final result.”
Matri believes that they had shown the right attitude on the field but they need to be more focused on the upcoming games now in order to make the best of them.
"However, we can't complain. Certainly, we should be more focused, but I think that we showed a positive performance. Our pace was very high over the 90 minutes, and we suffered from two isolated episodes.”
Juventus now sit on the 3rd spot in the league table and are 2 points behind the league leaders, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Udinese-Calcio-c40789. However, Conte’s men remain unbeaten in the 2011/12 campaign and the Turin giants are keen to maintain the unbeaten run going.
