Alessandro Nesta injury blow for AC Milan
AC Milan welcomed AC Cesena last night in a bid to avenge the 2 – 0 defeat the visitors had inflicted earlier in the season. Rossoneri emerged victorious thanks to a Maximiliano Pellegrino own goal and a http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Zlatan-Ibrahimovic-c38029 finish. Sadly for AC Milan, the
victory came at a cost. Alessandro Nesta had to be taken off injured, and was immediately rushed to the nearest hospital.
Rossoneri no. 13 injured his left shoulder mid through the first 45 minutes, and it was feared that Nesta had fractured his arm. Earlier reports suggested that Nesta would require surgery on his shoulder to make a complete recovery, rendering him unavailable
for up to three months. However, detailed scans showed that the defender had not fractured a bone, and will not need an operation.
“First of all, I liked our central defenders, Yepes and Papastathopoulos; they did a really good job. I’m very happy for them and they were the first I hugged in the dressing room after the final whistle. The only negative note of the game was Nesta’s injury.
I think he’ll be out for 3 to 4 weeks, which means 6 to 7 games, considering that from now on we’ll play every three days” AC Milan CEO Adriano Galliani said in the post match press conference.
Alessandro Nesta joins a long list of injury victims on the Milanello medical bench. Gennaro Gattuso also got injured minutes before the kick-off, prompting Massimiliano Allegri to start Thiago Silva in a defensive midfielder role. As it stands, Filippo
Inzaghi, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gennaro-Gattuso-c14525 and Alessandro Nesta are all unavailable for selection.
Massimiliano Allegri was already short of quality defenders with only two centre backs; http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Thiago-Silva-c34903, fitting the world-class criteria. With Rossoneri set to play 7 games in the coming month, including a Champions League double header
against Tottenham Hotspur, Allegri will have sleepless nights regarding his favourite centre back.
With a week still to go in the January transfer window, Silvio Berlusconi can go hunting for a quality centre back. AC Milan have been linked with Cagliari Calcio’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-Luiz-c10542. Perhaps it’s time for Rossoneri management to
make their interest count. While Luiz’s signature will cost Rossoneri in the region of 30 million Euros, Astori will be a cheaper buy since AC Milan already own half the players contract.
