The Rossoneri defender believes that the Catalan skipper pushed him before the penalty incident; blames too many mistakes for the defeat.
AC Milan defender, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Carles-Puyol-c8331 fouled him before the referee awarded the penalty against his team.
Milan lost 3-1 to Barcelona in the second-leg of the quarter-final of Uefa Champions League at Camp Nou on Tuesday, April 3. The Catalans were awarded two penalties in the game, but Nesta believes that the second one was extremely
harsh against his team.
Nesta was penalised for pulling http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sergio-c33030 Busquet’s shirt, and Lionel Messi made the Rossoneri pay with a goal. The veteran defender believes that the referee should have blown the whistle when Puyol had pulled him, but he ignored
the Spaniard’s foul.
The defender believes that in Serie A, these types of fouls are dealt with properly, but in Europe the rules are different.
While talking to the reporters, Nesta said:
“I pulled Busquets a bit, but I was being blocked from behind by Puyol. It was a foul on me as well. At least from what I saw on the pitch, the referee awarded the foul before the ball was in play. In http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Italy-c2926 they give many more
fouls in general, whereas in Europe they give fewer fouls and more of these penalties for shirt tugs. I think the referee could’ve done a lot better tonight.”

“We could’ve done a bit better on the counter-attack, seeing as we scored with that tactic. We scared them a few times, but then we stopped doing it properly.”
Nesta believes that Milan have given a tough time to the Catalans in the four matches played between the two teams this season, and the Italian Champions can further improve with some potential investment.
The Rossoneri have not won the Champions League since their victory in the 2006/07 season.
