Alessandro Petacchi wins the final stage of the Bayern-Rundfahrt, Michael Rogers secured the overall victory at the race
Alessandro Petacchi of Team Lampre-ISD wins the final stage of the Bayern-Rundfahrt after his tremendous performance during the five-day race.
He rode brilliantly during the 167.8 kilometre chase to Bamberg and finished the race in a fastest time of 3 hours, 48 minutes and 6 seconds.
Allan Davis of Team Orica GreenEdge, Andre Schulze of Team Net App, Rafai Chtioui of Team Europcar and Baden Cooke of Team Orica GreenEdge finished at the second, the third, the fourth and the fifth positions.
Petacchi is having a terrific past few days and called it as, “a perfect week. I won three stages and am very happy. My form is great”.
“Now I will ride the Tour de Suisse and then the Tour de France and I want to win the green jersey there, as I did in 2010,” he briefed to
rad-net.de.
Michael Rogers of Team Sky finished at the 38th position and continued his overall dominance after the final general classifications.
The Australian also had a terrific race and succeeded during the second and the fourth stages of the German race.
He leads the final general classifications with an impressive margin of 25 seconds over Jerome Coppel of Team Saur-Sojasun.
Vladimir Gusev of Team Katusha, Richie Porte of Team Sky, Kanstantsin Sivtsov of Team Sky and Tony Gallopin of Team RadioShack-Nissan holds the next four spots in the respective order.
While commenting on the overall victory at the race, Rogers briefed, "It’s great to get the wins here. I haven’t won a field race like on Thursday since 2006”.
“That was a relief but wherever you win it’s always nice”.
“I don’t feel like I’m at my peak yet. I’ve pretty much come straight off a heavy training camp with a few days’ rest”.
Alessandro Petacchi of Team Lampre-ISD, Karsten Kroon of Team Saxo Bank and Allan Davis of Team Orica GreenEdge leads the final sprint classifications.
Tony Gallopin of Team RadioShack-Nissan, Anthony Delaplace of Saur-Sojasun, John Degenkolb of Team Argos-Shimano and Christopher Juul Jensen of Team Saxo Bank are the top four riders at the best young rider’s classifications.
