Russian Premier League side Zenit St Petersburg winger, Alessandro Rosina may return to his homeland as Serie A side AC Cesena is interested in signing the much-travelled Italian.
The 26-year-old’s contract with the Russian club will expire in the summer of 2012 but a lack of opportunities with the side have forced Rosina to move back to Italy in order to get more playing time.
Rosina started his professional career with Parma Primavera in 2001-02 season and owing to his good performances, was promoted to the first team next season. On February 2003, he made his debut for the club against Juventus as a substitute for Japanese legend
Hidetoshi Nakata.
His first two seasons at the club saw the talented winger play 25 times but a change in formation saw him finding first team opportunities hard to come by. He was then loaned to Hellas Verona and had a very successful spell there.
His performances alerted Turin side Torino and he was bought by the club that was in Serie B at that time.
Upon his arrival at Turin, many people realised that the youngster was a great talent and Rosina proved this by becoming the pivotal force behind Torino’s promotion to Serie A.
The 2 seasons at the Serie A did not turn out that well for both Torino and Rosina but the youngster somehow managed to drag his side out of the worrying zone and even averaged a goal every three games.
In January 2008, the youngster was made the captain of the side and became a fan favourite at Turin. His performances were already being monitored by Italian powerhouses but the youngster proved his loyalty to the club by signing a contract extension until
2011.
However, things went from bad to worse for Torino and Rosina’s efforts were not enough to save his beloved side from relegation in the 2008-09 season.
To take some load off the player payroll, Torino directors decided to sell Rosina to Russian Premier League giants Zenit St Petersburg for a fee believed to be around 7 million Euros.
Things did not seem bright in Russia for Rosina as the then manager, d**k Advocaat expressed his annoyance at the signing of Rosina. But in the same season, the Dutchman was replaced by Anatoly Davydov who never really had time for the former Italian Under-21
international.
2010 saw another change in management and former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603 coach Luciano Spalletti took charge of the Russian side.
But Rosina is still to cement his place in the side and has now expressed his desire to leave http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Russia-c2991 and return to his homeland.
Cesena is yet to make an official bid for the talented winger but sources suggest that a deal may just be finalised by the end of the 2011 January transfer window.
