Alessandro Tadini misses the chance of his second victory in four weeks
Alessandro Tadini missed out the chance of his second Challenge Tour victory at the M2M Russian Challenge Cup, having won the ECCO Tour Championship presented by Thomas Björn and Mercedes Benz four weeks ago.
The Italian started off his final round campaign with a two-stroke lead over Alexandre Kaleka, Chris Lloyd and Morten Orum Madsen.
Kaleka tried to confront him early in the day by recording two birdies on the front nine. He accepted the challenge and answered by carding birdies on the fourth and fifth hole.
However, he faltered on the back nine of the course and conceded five bogeys against two birdies. As a result, he settled for a one-over par 73 for a six-under par tournament score.
In the meantime, Kaleka registered a seven-under par score, at the end of the four rounds, and took the title home. Tadini shared the second spot with Chilean Mark Tullo, who carded a three-under par 69 in the final round.
Tadini was really disappointed on missing out the chance, after coming so close to the victory. However, he stated that he took positives from the week and will try to avoid the mistakes in the future.
“I actually played well today,” said the Italian. “I was very good on the front nine but the back nine was too long for me because I'm not long with the driver or irons so I was missing the greens”.
According to him, he did not putt well throughout the day and converted easy pars into bogeys. Moreover, his chip shots were not good enough to create birdie chances throughout the day. As a result, he had to sign a number of blue dots on his scorecard.
“I missed some putts and didn’t chip well but I'm happy with the week,” he added. “Maybe I lost the tournament yesterday with silly bogeys. Second place is good for me and my Rankings though, so I will take good feelings into the rest of the season”.
In the meantime, Joachim B Hansen, Chris Doak and Madsen tied for the fourth position, after scoring a five-under par overall score.
