Alessandro Tadini shares the second position at the Challenge de Catalunya after two rounds
A bogey to end the second round restrained Alessandro Tadini of Italy to take the share of the lead on Friday, as he tied for the second position at the Challenge de Catalunya.
Tadini, the winner of this year’s ECCO Tour Championship, hosted by Mercedes Benz and Thomas Björn, started off on the 10th hole with a birdie. The very next hole witnessed him concede a bogey, followed by another birdie on the 12th
hole.
He then gained some momentum and parred the next three holes, prior to ending the back nine with two birdies on the last three holes.
On the front nine of the course, he once again made a good start and birdied the second hole to surge into the share of the lead.
However, a bogey on the seventh hole pushed him back on the tied second place. His position once again changed to T1 with a birdie on the eighth hole.
Thereafter, he had a great chance of going for an outright lead with a birdie putt on the 18th hole. Conversely, he swung his putter way too hard on the green and the ball kept on rolling after missing the cup.
As a result, he three putted for a bogey, which dragged him back to second place on the leaderboard. His final score at the end of the day was a three-under par 69 for a nine-under par two-round score.
Talking to the European Tour’s official website, he expressed his disappointment on recording a poor finish. Performing so well throughout but faltering towards the end, pulled his spirits down.
"I am very upset,” said Tadini. “I played just great on the front nine but I finished missing an easy putt for birdie and the three putt at the end, that made me really upset”.
Luke Goddard, Brooks Koepka and Nicolas Meitinger were the other three players who signed nine-under par 135 on their scorecards and tied for the second position.
Jeppe Huldahl, who led the round one by one stroke over Chris Doak, maintained his position on top of the leaderboard by posting a two-under par 70.
