Alessandro Tadini takes halfway lead at the M2M Russian Challenge Cup
Alessandro Tadini surged to the top of the leaderboard midway through the second round, after posting a three-under par 69, at the M2M Russian Challenge Cup, on Friday, September 7, 2012.
The Italian started off on the back nine of the course and earned a shot on the very first hole that he played. Afterwards, he lost control over his putter and missed a few birdie chances, while conceding a bogey on the 16th hole.
On the front nine, he picked up some pace and posted three birdies for an eight-under par score after two rounds at the Tseleevo Golf & Polo Club.
He now leads the field by two strokes, heading into the weekend. Matteo Delpodio, Mark Tullo and Chris Lloyd shared the second spot after each settled with a six-under par overall score.
“I played really good today,” said Tadini. “It wasn’t quite as good as yesterday – I missed two very short putts today and my putting in general was so, so – but I'm feeling good”.
“I have been here the past three years and I like it a lot. I hope to stay feeling like I am until Sunday. I'm driving it well and not missing any fairways and this is very important for this course,” he added.
He also commented that the greens were really tough to play on because of the pin positions. He now expects the conditions to get even tougher in the remaining two rounds.
“The flags were a little more difficult and the conditions are cold so the ball flies less but the greens are also difficult and I expect it to get even harder, with the weather and pin positions,” he said.
Tadini recently recorded a victory in the ECCO Tour Championship hosted by Thomas Björn & Mercedes-Benz, three weeks ago.
The very next week witnessed him record another good finish at the Rolex Trophy. He tied for the 23rd position, after recording a 12-under par tournament score.
He then decided to take a week off prior to coming to Russia. He now plans to play his natural game on the weekend and retain the control till the end of the tournament.
