Alessio Di Mauro (Italy) will face Maximo Gonzalez (Argentina) on November 16, 2011 in Montevideo, Uruguay. The two players will compete against each other in the men’s singles competition of the 2011 Uruguay Open.
The two players have been going on a nice run in the current tournament. Mauro won his match against Diego Sebastian Schwartzman (Argentina) in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3. Gonzalez also won his match in straight sets against Diego
Hidalgo (Ecuador).
Both competitors would be confident to play their match on Wednesday, November 16, 2011 for they are in great stride in the current tournament.
It is too early to comment on their future matches in the tournament, but keeping their recent matches at the 2011 Uruguay Open in mind, it is expected that both players can give each other a tough time in their match.
28-year old Gonzalez would have to play some aggressive shots for he would be facing a highly experienced opponent. Italian number 214th, Mauro, has been a long time player in the ATP circuit. He has a win/loss ratio
of 257/207 while Gonzalez has a win/loss ratio of 153/76.
Ranked at world number 130th, Gonzalez will have to focus on his service games to beat Mauro. The Argentinean has scored 92 aces in his career and would need to get an offensive start in the match to counter Mauro’s
attack.
The Italian can very much give a tough time to his opponent for he has delivered 192 aces in his career. Mauro’s high number of aces will provide him with the foresight to play his service games with excellence as he can dominate
his opponent.
In terms of winning service games, both players are nearly equal. Mauro has won 67% of his service games while Gonzalez has won 67% of his service games.
Mauro, who has not played any Grand Slam as yet, has won 58% points from his first serve. He would be vulnerable in front of his opponent, as Gonzalez has won 65% points from his first serve and would have an upper hand in all
of his service games.
The Argentinean, who has played the semi final of the 2008 US Open and the first round match at the 2009 Wimbledon would be eyeing a win in the match so he could make way ahead into the tournament.
Mauro would not let himself trail behind either for he needs a win in the ATP Challenger to increase his rankings.
Their match would be an evenly balanced one, as they would give it their best shot to secure a win into the next round.
