Alessio Sakara thinks he is a an old-school Roman soldier – UFC News
Alessio Sakara, who is scheduled to take on Brian Stann, thinks he is a ‘Roman Soldier’ while his opponent is a modern day marine warrior. Sakara will take on Brian at UFC on Fuel TV 2 on April 14, 2012. The event will be held inside the Ericson Globe Arena
in Stockholm and both the pugilists will battle each other in the co-main event.
In his recent interview, Sakara spoke of the fight. He said, “I am very excited for this fight because he is a very tough guy, top 10 in the Middleweight. I am very happy because I love to fight with tough guy. I have Italian style, tough guy too. And it's
a war. He's Marines, like war, it is very good for every people and UFC fans. Yeah, he is the modern, original warrior because he is a Marine. Me, Roman soldier, like history, but my spirit is a Roman soldier and Italian style. For me, this is the best fight
of the night.”
It should be noted here that this would be Sakara’s comeback bout. His last fight was against Chris Weidman at UFC on Versus 3: “Sanchez vs. Kampmann” a year back. Sakara lost the fight and felt pretty humiliated since Chris was a newcomer back then. Later
on, Sakara was scheduled to face Jorge Rivera at UFC 133 last year, but he could not compete due to a torn knee ligament.
On the other hand, Sakara’s opponent Brian Stann is a former United States Marine. Brian has earned enormous popularity in a short span time, especially due to his services to the United States and his distinct fighting style. He earned a mega-bout against
Chael Sonnen last year at UFC 136 but he lost.
Sakara added that he has been training at American Top Team and that he needs to train everything. He revealed that he usually focuses on training Jiu-Jitsu and wrestling since he like the combination of both. Lastly, Sakara said that he wants to make a
statement this time against Brian and therefore he is giving every ounce of his efforts to the training.
