Question:

Aleve and sensitive stomach?

by  |  earlier

I have taken aleve in the past and it has really bothered my stomach (causing diarrhea and horrible stomach ache). Would you recommend taking something (less likely to bother my stomach) for aches and pains? I'm so afraid to take a pain reliever now after this happened.

Has this ever happened to anyone else?

  1. Yes, I got an ulcer from taking anti-inflammatories. All NSAIDs (including aspirin) can cause stomach problems. Tylenol does not harm the stomach. You can also try Arthotec (you need a doctor's prescription) which is a NSAID with an additive to help protect the stomach.

  2. Aleve is a great pain reliever but it gives me the worst heart burn i feel as

though im having a heart attack.  try motrin but eat something first it

works almost as good, if you can go to doctor try ultram, i take that and

it is a mirale drug.  at least for me it is.  good luck

  3. Yes Aleve has Naproxen in it and that is known to cause stomach problems.  It is an anti-inflammatory and most of them do cause problems with the stomach.  I have arthritis and they tried to prescribe them for me but I can not take many of them.  I can take Naproxen but it has to be without the sodium.  Try Percogelsic it is the strongest over the counter pain medicine you can buy and it costs about 6.00 a bottle.  My pharmacist told me about it years ago and it does work.
