Alex Ariza: Pacquiao-Mayweather bout could never happen due to Bob Arum – Boxing news
Alex Ariza, who is the conditioning trainer of eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao, has claimed that a dream-fight between his man and the undefeated American legend Floyd Mayweather has not been made as of yet due to Bob Arum, who is the promoter
of the Filipino star.
The 34-year-old American Superstar, Mayweather, who is a five-division world champion and the World Boxing Council World Welterweight Champion, wants to fight on May 5 and he finally wanted to set up a super-fight with the Pac-Man. However, Arum is not interested
in Mayweather right now as he wants Pacquiao to fight Juan Manuel Marquez for a fourth time.
Ariza told the media Arum has always looked for his own benefits and that is a reason why a fight between Pacquiao and Mayweather has never been made.
Ariza told Fighthype.com, “It's not about what's best for the fighter. It's clear as to why the Pacquiao-Mayweather fight has never happened. It's always about what's best for Bob and his agenda...”
Ariza in the end insisted Arum does a co-promotion with everyone but when it comes to Pacquiao, he never does it.
Ariza added, “Let me ask you something, why is it that Bob can do a co-promotion with everybody else out there? He can do a co-promotion with anyone, DiBella, this guy, that guy, but he won't do a co-promotion when it comes to Manny Pacquiao fighting somebody.
Whoever Manny fights, he has to fight in-house. Why is that do you think?”
Mayweather and Pacquiao, who is the current World Boxing Organisation World Welterweight Champion (Super Champion), has always been at a distance due to their dispute over random blood testing but now when a fight between the two boxing’s best can be set
it is Arum who is hinting otherwise.
Oscar de la Hoya of the Golden Boy Promotions is also not happy with Arum’s jester, as he knows people want to see Mayweather-Pacquiao instead of Pacquiao-Marquez for a fourth time.
Let’s hope if Arum changes his mind and sets up Pacquiao’s fight with Mayweather because this bout will certainly force a lot out there to flock into the arena.
