Alex Arthur to return to the ring on April 14 – Boxing news
Headlining self-owned AAA Promotions’ bill at the Meadowbank Sports Centre, Alex Arthur will be making his ring return on April 14, 2012.
The event will be organized in Arthur’s native land, Edinburgh.
Expressing his views on his return, Arthur asserted, “The Edinburgh public have been asking me whenever I have been out and about when the next promotion will be in Edinburgh and I can now confirm the date. I am delighted AAA Promotions will be back at Meadowbank
as our first show was a huge success and the talk of the town for days afterwards. In terms of how I boxed, it was the best I had felt for a couple of years as I am back training with Peter Harrison, was properly prepared and boxing at light-welterweight.”
Arthur’s opponent in his comeback match has not been decided yet. However, his side has confirmed that in the coming weeks the opponent will be announced. The former British, Commonwealth, European Boxing Union (EBU) and WBO super featherweight champion
believes 2012 will be a busy year for him, and that he wants to have a title shot of any sort by the end of this year.
Alex Arthur hails from Edinburgh in Scotland and is nicknamed as the “Amazing” Alex Arthur. Arthur stepped into the ring for the first time in November 2000 against Richmond Asante, who was a debutant as well. The bout was held at the Wythenshawe forum in
Manchester and was won by Arthur. The Amazing Arthur took a swift career blow when he won 11 matches straight in a row, emerging as one of the most promising young boxers of our times.
Arthur’s most commendable fight to date was against Michael Gomez, for which he was the favourite. Unfortunately, Arthur was brutally beaten by Gomez, who was highly aggressive and provoked due to the war of words between both the fighters that had continued
for weeks prior to the event.
Most critics believed Arthur would emerge victorious, but somehow Gomez made it to the mark first proving everyone wrong.
Arthur’s ring return has made the boxing universe quite curious as to what he has in mind. The rising star is back with his fury and aggression and hopefully this time for something big! Unfortunately, fans still have to wait a few weeks more to get to know
Arthur’s victim in his comeback bout.
