Alex Bogomolov Jr. bashes Michael Yani in the second round – Delray Beach International 2012
Sixth seed Alex Bogomolov of Russia thrashed world number 186, Michael Yani of USA, in straight sets in the first round at the Delray Beach International Tennis Tournament in Florida, USA on Tuesday. The Russian lost just four
games in the entire match, winning it 6-3, 6-1 in just an hour and eight minutes.
Bogomolov Jr. and Yani broke each other on a number of occasions in the first set but it was the Russian who struck three times out of the total five to win it 6-3. Both players failed to hit an ace in the opener. However, Bogomolov
committed only one double fault compared to three by the American.
The Russian completely dominated the second set, allowing Yani to win just game and breaking him three times to grab the set 6-1. Bogomolov delivered one ace and 55 percent of the first serves, capturing nine of the twelve points
on them in the second set.
The Russian is pitted against Marinko Matosevic of Australian in the next match. The qualifier, Matosevic, upset Ivo Karlovic of Croatia 6-3, 6-4 in the first round.
Joining Bogomolov in the second round, seventh seed Kevin Anderson outclassed Austin Krajicek of USA in straight sets 6-1, 6-4 in the opening match.
The South African, Anderson, was almost flawless in the first set, dropping just one game and making double breakthrough to seal it 6-1.
Anderson and Krajicek won their serve in the first six games of the second set to square off the score at 3-3. The South African broke his opponent in the seventh but failed to consolidate on it, taking the score to 4-4. Anderson
clinched last two games of the set to win it 6-4.
The 6ft 8in tall threw out his opponent from the competition in one hour and 26 minutes.
Anderson will play two-time former champion, Xavier Malisse of Belgium, in the round of 16. Malisse defeated Guillermo Garcia-Lopez in straight sets 7-6(3), 6-3 in the opener. Malisse and Garcia-Lopez traded two breaks of serve
in the first set to take it to a tie-breaker. The Belgian grabbed a 6-2 lead and consolidated on it to win 7-3.
The former world number 25 needed a single break of serve in the second set to bag it 6-3.It took the Belgian only an hour and 37 minutes to overcome his opponent in a one-sided contest.
