Born in Russian, Bogomolov has been up and inform playing on hard courts. His previous 10 matches have been on hard court giving him a better view of the Cincinnati circuit. Winning a breakpoint of the opening serve, the American world No.50 took away back-to back games, winning breakpoints in game 3 and 5 and finally taking away the set and the match with a mesmerizing score, 6-3, 6-0.
The Italian hardly won any points in the second set. Bogomolov dissipated the 27-year-old winning 6 straight games, 12 service points and 12 returners totalling 24 to his set win. The second set points added to the 31 in the first totalling 55 overall in the match.
