Alex Caceres to fight Edwin Figueroa in bantamweight bout at UFC 143 – UFC News

The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is going to host UFC 143 in 2012. The event is scheduled to take place on February 4, 2012 in Las Vegas, Nevada. According to news from the UFC officials, American mixed martial art (MMA) fighters Alex Caceres will fight
against Edwin Figueroa.

In November 2011, the UFC confirmed the bout to take place at UFC 143.  Caceres made his MMA professional debut in November 2008 and successfully entered into the MMA division with a win over Eric Luke at G-Force Fights event in Florida.
He had a four fight winning streak before he lost his first bout in his career against Farkhad Sharipov in June 2009. In November 2011 Caceres won his bout against Cole Escovedo at UFC on Fox.  This was the event when he made his
bantamweight debut in the UFC.

Caceres’ opponent at UFC 143, Figueroa, will be taking part in the second UFC fight of his career. He had his first bout in the UFC at UFC Fight Night in March 2011 but he could not secure a win. He got defeated by the hands of Michael McDonald on debut. When
Figueroa would enter in the ring at UFC 143, he would be in the hunt to get a second consecutive win, as he won the bout in August 2011 against Jason Reinhardt at UFC Live event.

According to Joe Silva and Sean Shelby, the official UFC matchmakers, announced in November 2011 that the two fighters would be facing each other. This announcement also makes it clear that Figueroa would make his return inside the UFC octagon as the last time
he fought for UFC was in August 2004.

Both fighters are in a desperate need to gain some momentum by winning bouts in the UFC. This is also a reason why both are anticipating a great fight at UFC 143. The fighters, belonging to the bantamweight category, would focus on getting a possible bantamweight
title shot.
This can only be done if they are consistently winning bouts an impressing judges and MMA and UFC fans altogether. Caceres won his debut UFC fight at UFC on FOX and he would be looking to get another win in the UFC at UFC 143.
