Alex Corbisiero wants to play the third test – Rugby News Update
Alex Corbisiero, the 23-year-old London Irish and England prop is keen to play the third-test against South Africa this Saturday, at Port Elizabeth's Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.
England play the Springboks in the third and final test this weekend, and the visiting team will be hoping to achieve victory in the last game of the tour. The visitors have lost both the tests so far, and Corbisiero did not feature in the first due to injury.
He managed to make the bench for the second test at Johannesburg but is keen to start, and believes that England is worthy of a win.
The prop was a regular for England during the 2012 Six Nations Grand Slam, and he wants his place back in the starting XV. Speaking about the game he said, "This weekend is a big challenge for us and we want to walk away finishing this tour on a high note."
He added, "We have had two tough defeats but there have been some real positives in those games.”
"We want to close out a win - it would be massive for the boys.”
"There has been so much hard work, so much effort has gone in. We are gelling as a team.”
"We owe it to ourselves and owe it to the country to get that win."
It will not be easy for England to win the third test even though Heyneke Meyer, the head coach of South Africa had said earlier that England would be a force to reckon with at the 2015 Rugby World Cup.
Corbisiero was born in New York but he chose to play for England. He represented England at U18, U19, U20 and Saxons levels before he earned his first international cap against Italy at Twickenham, on February 12, 2011. So far the prop has played 16 games
for his country, starting 11 of those games and coming on as a substitute a further 5 times.
England go into the game without their mercurial captain Chris Robshaw, and it will be a tough ask for the visitors to win the third and final test.
