Alex Ferguson confirms that Manchester United will not renew Owen Hargreaves’ contract at the club
Manchester United manager, Alex Ferguson has gone on to confirm that the Red Devils to not have any intentions to extend Owen Hargreaves’ stay at Old Trafford.
The midfielder had a highly impressive run in with German club, Bayern Munich before making the switch to Old Trafford in 2007, but things did not slide so smooth once he made the transition.
Ever since joining the Red Devils, the player has managed to make only thirty nine appearances in the four years that he has spent at the club. One of the prime reasons for him doing so poorly for the club is because the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 international has
had a number of injury concerns. In fact at times, the player happens to pick up an injury while away due to some sort of an injury, despite that sounding rather confusing and rather humorous to most, that has been the case with Hargreaves.
Nonetheless, it seems like http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 Ferguson has finally had just about enough of the player, who seems to be in no position to continue playing at the highest level. When talking about the midfielder’s future at the club, the manager is reported to have said:
"This has been a difficult decision knowing how hard the lad has worked to win back his fitness.
"But we have made it in the hope he will be able to resurrect his career elsewhere."
The news of Hargreaves leaving United if anything, has not come as a surprise to most. The player had been a part of the squad, but couldn’t even feature for the reserves and that is reason enough to part ways with a player. All in all, for the last four
years, the player had managed to rack up a rather handsome amount in wages, despite only playing a handful of games.
However, what is surprising is the fact that the team did not part ways with the player earlier. Nonetheless, with Hargreaves now certain to be on his way out of United, the team can turn their focus elsewhere and look to bring in a new holding midfielder.
At the moment United do not have a single, all out holding player, with Fletcher coming the closest to a box to box player amongst their ranks.
Nonetheless, with Ferguson now clearing up some wages and perhaps even set to incur some cash from Hargreaves transfer, it seems more than likely that a new holding player is going to be on his way to United this summer.
