Manchester United took the lead in the 57th minute through http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Dimitar-Berbatov-c11254. The strike took the Bulgarian to the top of scoring charts in the Premier League with 13 goals this season.
United were dominant throughout the match and remained camped in Birmigham’s half for most part of the match.
However, Blues did look threatening on the counter attack and got their equalizer just before the 90th minute.
Sir Alex Ferguson was not pleased with the draw and labelled the result “unfortunate”.
He also blasted out at the referee on not being able to judge the incident correctly.
He said, “If he can’t see that what chance have you got? I can’t fault my team tonight. They worked hard, they’ve run their socks off with little rest. It’s hard on them, it’s hard. I think it is terribly harsh, I think we outplayed
them in the second half and we didn’t deserve that.”
The result brings the Red Devils to the top of the league and in the driving seat before the turn of New Year.
Ferguson said, “I think we’ve a chance, at this moment in time there are five or six teams that are all contesting that area at the top of the league. I always say if you get to New Year and you are in that front position then
Manchester United have a big chance then.”
The draw extends United’s unbeaten streak in the league to 18 games. However, Alex Ferguson’s men have not been impressive on the road. Tuesday night’s draw was their 7thsuccessive draw while playing away from Old Trafford.
The veteran manager will know that his team should improve their away form if they are to retain pole position in the rankings until May 2011.
