Alex Ferguson praises Javier Hernandez and laments http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wayne-Rooney-c36736’s performance
Sir Alex Ferguson has come out and admitted that Wayne Rooney has not been firing on all cylinders thus far, but the Manchester United manager reserved special praise for the Mexican starlet, Javier Hernandez. United were on the
verge of self-destruction at Bloomfield Road stadium on 25 January against Blackpool in the Premier League as they were down by two goals to nil at the half time break. However, goals from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Dimitar-Berbatov-c11254 and Hernandez rescued the Red Devils in fantastic
fashion as Ferguson’s men ended up as eventual winners by three goals to two.
Wayne Rooney’s performance was a disappointment in particular for Manchester United fans as he was shunted out wide at the left wing position. Nonetheless, Sir Alex granted the striker the benefit of the doubt as he blamed United’s
overall approach to the game for their miserable performance in the first half of the match. Manchester United have now established a five-point lead at the top of the English Premier League table after their win over Blackpool. Moreover, if United win their
next league encounter at Old Trafford against Aston Villa, they will level their own record of remaining unbeaten in 29 games in the English Premier League. Manchester United accomplished this feat in their 1999 treble winning season.
Sir Alex stated in latest press conference, "We tried to use Wayne as a wide player and although he has played that role well many times, he was just not getting into the game in the first half. It was no fault of his. The rhythm
of our game wasn't right. We were all over the place.”
He added, "We then tried to put him through the middle but, when we were still 2-0 down 20 minutes into the second half, we had to do something and had to gamble. Chicharito [Hernandez] was a gamble. But of course immediately he
went right through and forced a terrific save from their goalkeeper. Then he got the equalizer for us and in fact could have scored four goals. So he made a great impact." Currently, Manchester United are being chased by the likes of Arsenal and Manchester
City in the second and third places respectively in the English Premier League table.
