After Manchester United won their latest league match in the English Premier League against Arsenal, their long standing manager, Sir Alex Ferguson has come out and praised Park Ji Sung.
Park scored the only goal of the match for Ferguson’s team at the end of the first half as United came out as 1-0 winners at the full time. The South Korean captain has shown a tendency to rise to the occasion recently as he has scored some vital goals for
the Red Devils over the past 12 months.
Not only that, Park’s goal has sent United to the summit of the Premier League table. Something that is sure to delight Ferguson as United gear up for their next league encounter against Chelsea. With the title race hanging in balance between the four contenders
at the top of the table, the fixture at Stamford Bridge can be a title decider.
Ferguson explained after the match as he said, "Ji is in fantastic form. Unfortunately, we are going to lose him for seven matches after December 26. It is disappointing."
Park Ji Sung also scored against Wolverhampton Wanderers earlier on in the season to give Manchester United the win against Mick McCarthy’s team. In the second half of the match, Manchester United also wasted a penalty kick in the second half of the match
as Wayne Rooney missed his spot kick.
Speaking on Rooney’s penalty, he said, "I have never seen him put one over the bar before.” Luis Nani also came close to scoring for the Red Devils in second half but he also spurred his chance. Arsenal’s only chance of the match came in the first half but
Chamakh’s shot was blocked by Vidic in Manchester United defence.
Arsene Wenger on the other hand was critical of the condition of the pitch at Old Trafford but he complimented Manchester United as he said, "Manchester United defended very well, but technically, the quality of the game was average. We were not quick and
sharp in possession. That was partly down to their defending but also the quality of the pitch.”
Speaking about suggestions that Arsenal’s title bid is all but over with their latest defeat as he said, "Calm down. You have to be realistic and objective and not necessarily reach big conclusions."
Arsenal started the match with Wojciech Szczesny in goal as Lukas Fabianski was ruled out of the encounter against Manchester United due to an injury.
The 20-year-old held his own during the match, Wenger praised the Polish international as he stated, "He didn't make any mistakes. If you can do the job, the size of the game is not important. I saw Edwin van der Sar playing in big games when he was 18."
In the end, Manchester United’s manager, Sir Alex Ferguson came out and stated his side’s intent to do well against Chelsea in their next league encounter. United who are currently 1st in the English league table will be looking to gain a favourable
result against the Blues but as the match is taking place at Stamford Bridge, the task at hand is easier said than done.
Ferguson said, "We have a difficult game against Chelsea on Sunday but it is also a very important game… Our back four did really well. They are really getting their form now. If they maintain that consistency, we will have a good chance."
