Manchester United’s manager, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 Ferguson has admitted that his side need to improve their away form in Europe, if they are to have any success in the European competitions in the future.
United are currently competing in the Europa League, following the team’s exit from the Champions League in the group stages.
The Red Devils went on to lose a three goals to nil lead against Basel in the Champions League and even went on to lose out to Dutch side Ajax, by two goals to one in the Europa League.
Despite the loss to Ajax in the second leg, the team still barely managed to make it to the next round of the Europa League, since they had won the first leg by two goals to nil.
However, Ferguson believes that his side really need to work on improving their European form, or they could crash out of the Europa League sooner, rather than later.
United are currently set to take on Athletic Bilbao in the Europa League and any slip ups against the Spanish club could prove to be costly for the red devils.
Ferguson, when talking about his side, their form and the upcoming game, is quoted to have said: "It's a very difficult tie, all the work Bilbao have done has been very impressive.”
"They're a very progressive team in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011 at the moment and it's going to be very difficult for us. We need to wake up, there's no question about that. Some of our European form has been disappointing.”
"But it's an opportunity to progress and we want to take that opportunity, although it's going to need a very good performance."
Despite many believing that the team doesn’t regard the Europa League very highly, Ferguson admitted that he was looking to win the competition and that he would be fielding his strongest possible team in the upcoming game.
The manager then went on to add: “It was a disappointment but tomorrow I'm playing a strong team and I hope that makes a difference.”
Nonetheless, the game against Athletic Bilbao is going to be interesting to watch, considering how all the United players will be looking to please their manager via their performance on the pitch.
