Alex Leapai determined to knockout Kevin Johnson in March – Boxing news
Alex Leapai, the number one Australian heavyweight, is determined to knock out Kevin Johnson in the upcoming engagement scheduled to take place on March 13, 2012.
He wants to make his Samoan roots proud and achieve a feat that even the world’s fiercest pugilist Vitali Klitschko.
Alex and Kevin are bound to collide at Doomben Racecourse arena situated in Ascot, Queensland, Australia for 12 rounds, and Samoan Alex is confident of the fact that he will knock Johnson out. Alex is the second Samoan who is at the brink of experiencing
the limelight after Maselino Masoe, the former WBA middleweight champion, in his respective division.
Alex, infamous as ‘The Lionheart’, has built himself a very impressive and intimidating resume. He has been in a total 31 brawls and came out victorious in 25. In addition he also possesses an emphatic kayo ratio of 64.52% by collecting 20 of his wins by
knockout. The 32-year-old is on a continuous winning streak since his last split decision loss against Colin Wilson.
In his illustrious career Alex has won almost all the apex heavyweight titles and is now eyeing for Vitali’s gold and most probably will do so if he is able to knockout Kevin. Kevin, on the other hand, has been in a total 27 brawls. He has lost just one
bout against Vitali, the Dr. Ironfist. Other than the Ukrainian no opponent has ever succeeded in breaking Johnson’s resilience.
Johnson, renowned as the ‘Kingpin’, is a hardcore, resilient, punish absorbing brawler and never gives up no matter what happens. He has collected only 11 of his total 25 wins by knockout and remaining 14 by either split or unanimous decision. Being America’s
number 13th heavyweight, Johnson resides far behind Alex in world rankings and might not possibly pose that much of a threat to the Samoan.
Alex while sharing his thoughts and aims said, “Samoan middleweight Maselino Masoe travelled to America and captured the WBA middleweight title. I am confident I will become the second Samoan to hold a world crown and I am prepared to travel to Germany and
challenge both Vitali and Wladimir Klitschko on their home turf.”
Each and every analyst is unanimous at the fact that if Alex annihilates Kevin by KO, he will be considered as eligible to take on Vitali for the WBA title. Alex was of the view that his trainer Noel Thornberry was the man behind the legendary Maselino and
Noel will be the same guy who will help him climb all the way up to become the WBA heavyweight champion since he has in his fists and arms the ability and strength to KO Vitali, a feat that neither Dereck Chisora nor David Haye were able to perform.
