Alex McLeish backs Charles N’Zogbia to find form at Aston Villa – EPL News
Aston Villa boss Alex McLeish has backed his summer signing, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Charles-c8808 N’Zogbia, to prove his worth after a poor start to the 2011/12 English Premier League season by the French international.
McLeish captured N’Zogbia in the recently concluded summer transfer window after tracking the Frenchman for the past two years.
The 25-year-old hugely impressed during his two-year stay at Wigan Athletic. N’Zogbia was particularly at his best last season as he scored nine goals for the Latics and contributed further with five assists, which proved enough for the club to survive the
relegation battle.
The French international’s performances at DW Stadium caught the eye of a number of Premier League clubs.
However, Aston Villa managed to lure N’Zogbia from Wigan Athletic for £9.5 million. The attacker was to replace Steward Downing and Ashley Young, who had left for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 and Manchester United respectively.
Many have questioned the acquisition but McLeish stays confident that the Frenchman has all the attributes to be successful at Villa Park.
N’Zogbia has started only twice for Aston Villa in the current campaign and has failed to make an impact so far. The French international started against his old club Newcastle United last weekend and did little to impress.
The player is finding it hard to adapt to life at Aston Villa, but McLeish is confident that the Frenchman will come good in time.
The Scotsman is pleased with N’Zogbia’s performances and has urged the 25-year-old winger to be more creative in front of goal.
The Lions boss told the reporters, "He's just got to find his top level in the last third. He's getting into good positions. It's just that final ball and he'll be off and running.”
“We've seen what he can do so we know he's got top quality. He's a proud guy as well and will keep working hard to get to his best," Alex McLeish concluded.
Charles N’Zogbia made his Premier League debut for Aston Villa against Fulham and has played two games so far.
