Alex McLeish pleads Aston Villa fans to be patient – EPL News
Influential Aston Villa manager http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 McLeish has urged the Villan fans to be patient and show their full support towards the team in the ongoing 2011/12 Barclays Premier League season.
McLeish, who made a controversial switch to Aston Villa from arch rivals Birmingham City, is yet to make an impact at the Villa Park.
The Lions have recorded just a single win from six matches in the Barclays Premier League, which came against Blackburn http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rovers-c40385 at the Villa Park last month. However, McLeish’s men are one of the only few unbeaten sides in the league as the Villans have drawn
their remaining five fixtures. Moreover, the Birmingham-based club also crashed out of the Carling Cup following their 2-0 defeat to Bolton Wanderers at Villa Park.
After their recent 1-1 draw against Queens Park http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rangers-c40314, Aston Villa are currently placed eighth in the league standings with eight points from six games. McLeish has pleaded with fans to be patient and has assured them that the Villans will be able to convert
these draws into wins.
The Scottish manager told the reporters, "We've got to be patient. There has got to be patience.”
The Lions manager has acknowledged that the Villans faithful are desperate to see their team succeed and added, “But we know how competitive this league is and you see topsy-turvy results you wouldn't expect already this term.”
McLeish believes that Aston Villa have had a decent start to the current Premier League campaign and is satisfied with the Villans’ current form.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Scotland-c756 boss stated, "It would be doubtful if we win the league this season but you can look at the league in different phases. If you play really well the first six games, does that mean you are going to have a bad spell? Who knows what the
season is going to bring.”
McLeish has insisted that the club should take every fixture positively and is confident of a successful season at Villa Park.
"I think you've always got to stay positive and, if you are winning some games, then you've got to keep winning and, if you have a setback, you've got to bounce back,” the former Birmingham City boss concluded.
Aston Villa will play their next Premier League match against Wigan Athletic at home on October 21, 2011.
