Alex Pang stamps Alvin Lau en route to semi-finals of 2013 Yonex Canadian National Championships

Men’s Singles campaigner Alex Pang remained invincible in the quarter-final round of Yonex Canadian National Championships and marched into semi-finals on January 31, 2013.
He thrashed a compatriot player Alvin Lau in a straight-set match that prolonged for 38 minutes in the local badminton complex of Gatineau.
The top seeded Alex relished full benefits of superiority and wrapped this showdown with an impressive result of 21-16 and 21-14.
He laid foundation of his supremacy immediately in the opening game and kept his challenger grounded throughout this encounter.
On the other hand, Alvin Lau failed to employ an effective counterattack strategy and crashed out in a disgraceful manner.
In first set of the match, both contenders challenged each other in the establishing rallies but then Alex tipped the scale in his favour by pocketing couple of valuable points.
He made best out of this initial advantage and strengthened his grip way before the announcement of break.
At the half time, the prime Canadian shuttler was in commanding position with a mountainous figure of 11.
After the mid-game break, he gathered some pace and left his competitor far behind on the points table. He played with great precision and did not give Alvin even a single counterattack opportunity.
Alex looked completely on song in the final stage as he bagged most of the ending points and registered an overwhelming margin of 21-16.
The following game did not bring much for Alvin as he kept on trailing behind his rival and ultimately gave up this futile chase.
Meanwhile, Alex played aggressive badminton from very first stroke to the last one and secured a semi-final berth.
He established a decent lead by prevailing in the establishing rallies and then widened the gap non points table with few consecutive points.
He unleashed a series of productive strokes which helped him to place a convincing total of 11 before interval.
After the one-minute break, Alex injected more intensity in his attack and swept the table with a significant margin of 21-14.
Now he will lock horns with Nyl Yakura in the second last round of Canadian National Championships.
