Alex Rodriguez: Not having a good season – MLB Feature
When one thinks of the New York Yankees, it is hard not to think of their hard hitting slugger Alex Rodriguez. The player is synonymous with hitting balls over the wall. However, this year it seems that Alex is not having a comfortable time for the Yankees.
It looks like he is having some difficulty scoring runs and getting good hits off the plate. The fans are all waiting for something big to come from a player with his credentials. Everyone knows that Alex can turn it on at anytime and it seems that this
year, it is taking longer than usual for him to get back in to form.
The critics never leave him alone and are always riding his back regarding the relationship between his personal life and his on the field performance. The amount of money he is paid to perform is always in the lime-light as it seems that he has to justify
his enormous salary with something special on the field.
The Yankees don’t seem to be too worried right now as they are not having such a bad season. Sure, it could be a lot better, but we all know that the Yankees are always able to pick up their performance and somehow make it to post-season play.
If the Yankees want to have a good season then they will be looking to Alex for some inspiration. Once he gets going, the rest of the team usually follows. His past performance has been phenomenal and the Yankees are hoping that he can turn his fortunes
around and bring something positive to the plate this year.
This year, Alex is rather lukewarm in his performance. Surprisingly he has stayed rather low-key and it seems he is concentrating on nothing but baseball for the moment. He will be working hard to regain some form to help the Yankees in their highly competitive
division.
“I’m Alex’s biggest fan. I brag on him so much that my teammates are sick of me talking about him. We're here to support him through it. I don't condone what he did. We don't condone what he did. And Alex doesn't condone what he did. And I think at this
point now it's our jobs to try to help him be as comfortable as he can on the field,” Captain Derek Jeter said of him.
“I want to be the best, and the best work. You have to earn what you get, and you have to work to keep it, said Rodriguez”
Of course, A-Rod has given some decent results since the start of the season but the fans will be hoping to see more fireworks from him as the season enters its second half. The 36 year old is averaging .284 with 9 home runs and 22 RBI’s so far. His .372
On-Base Percentage is also slightly less than his career OBP.
It seems Rodriguez is saving his best performances for pressure games. If the Yankees make it to the playoffs, they will need their premier hitter to score runs on regular basis. It will be very interesting to see if he can raise the level of his game play
to post another 30 plus home runs and 100 plus RBI season and help his team win another World Series title.
