Question:

Alex Rodriguez.......??

I keep hearing everywhere that Alex Rodriguez is having a bad year and he is to blame for the Yankees season. Now, I admit he is overpaid and not playing up to his full potential. I guess maybe people, especially Yankee fans are looking for someone to blame for their disappointing season.

I mean I'm no A-Rod fan but the guy is hitting .307, 28 HRs, and 79 RBI's.

Maybe its bad for what he is getting paid, but should he really be criticized this much and be blamed this much for the Yankees disappointing season.

P.S. I'm not a Yankees fan, just a person expressing how he feels.

  1. blame Steinbrenner...he got rid of Torre...besides almost all players are over payed for what they do...in any sport...can you imagine where you work making millions of dollars and dropping balls..missing baskets...striking out allot...and still keeping your job...and like any team sport..it takes everybody to make a team successful..and more than one to make a team a flop

  2. the real reason that A-rod is being criticized is actually completely fair

Last year he hit almost 365 with runners in scoring position this year he is hitting under 240.

What this means is that he is getting up to bat with a chance for some RBI's and not cashing in which is hurting his team

Also most of his HR and RBI's have come in blowouts

  3. I love A-rod, I'm a yankees fan even though i know they suck sometimes... A-rod is not the only one in the team so he shouldn't get blamed for the yankees bad times, Peope are just stupid... There's alot of players in that team that suck, like the fat guy who's name i always forget..lol...anyways, GO yankees! Go A-rod!

  4. Whoever says that A-Rod alone is to blame for the Yankees lack of success is a hater, or has absolutely no baseball intelligence whatsoever.

That being said, he still is having a down year. There are a few guys who would love to have those numbers, I believe he's on pace for something like 35 HR's and right around 100 knocked in, but his production is down. Especially lately, and dude hasn't hit all year with RISP.

It's just been a bad year for NYY, but not all of it has to always fall on A-Rod's shoulders.

  5. It's for the fact that he's playing in New York which is the toughest sports town in the U.S. New York sports players are expected to go out and play at 100% and have a great game whenever they step on the field, thats just how it is in NY. If he were playing in another place like still in Texas or Seattle he would be credited with having a pretty good year. The New York Factor has a lot to do with him getting booed

  6. First let me say that I'm not a yankee fan (Infact I hate the yankees).  All these player are great players. All they are lacking is the timely hit. All these players are all stars  Plus all these player are getting old. To answer you question None of these players are at fault. Even Cashman is not at fault (At least he his not scared to spend the money to get the best players that baseball has)

  7. It's not his overall numbers that's the problem.  It's how he does in the clutch, especially with runners in scoring position.

Here are some numbers for you.

    Wins: 18 HR, 58 RBI, .352 BA

    Loses: 10, 21, .250

    Runners in scoring position: 5, 47, .242

    Nobody on base: 19, 19, .345

    Bases loaded: 0, 4, .100 (1 hit in 10 at bats)

    2 outs, RISP: 3, 18, .245

edit: He gets the most blame because a) he's the highest paid player and b) he's "suppose" to be the best player in the game.  If you ask me the reason the Yankees are struggling this year is because of pitchers Chein-Ming Wang, Ian Kennedy, and Philip Hughes.  There were expected to win about 40 games this year and they have a combined total of 8.

  8. A-Rod has always been the scape goat for the yanks. Don't get me wrong, I hate A-Rod and the yanks, but it's bs that they all blame one player rather than the whole team and the organization because A-Rod can't hit a freaking homer every at bat.

  9. true.

  10. Yea, he hits well when it doesn't count. He is the king of the meaningless home run or RBI. He is a kind os a pansy, if you ask me.  Its funny to see the yankees 10 games behind the rays who have a fraction of their payroll

  11. A-ron is having a HORRBILE year in situations that actually count (1 fot 10 with bases loaded) as to last year when HE OWNED the 7th inning on, especially the 9th... He is an all-time great, he will bounce back...
