Alex Rodriguez says he will remain with New York Yankees – MLB Update
Third baseman Alex Rodriguez has reiterated that he will remain with New York Yankees despite his poor performance in 2012 Major League Baseball regular and post-season.
Rumours also created many stories that Yankees' All Star might try to go somewhere else in the league. Miami Marlins was the first franchise that Rodriguez could think of playing but now within the Yankees organisation, many executives have stated in the media that 37-year-old and 18-year veteran does not want to go anywhere but to stay in New York.
Now Rodriguez himself explained and showed enormous amount of desire that he will not be going anywhere and the speculations about him and Miami Marlins are all false.
He even stated that though this season has not been proved too good for him, but Yankees' fans will be seeing him again next season with the South New York baseball side.
“That’s correct. I will be back. I have a lot to prove and I will be back, on a mission, I love New York City, and I love everything about being a Yankee. The highs are very high, and the lows are extremely low,” said Alex Rodriguez regarding all these speculations which say that he will play for Miami next season.
He added, “But I’ve never thought about going to another team. My focus is on staying here. Let’s make that very, very clear. No. 2, I don’t expect to be mediocre. I expect to do what I’ve done for a long time. Look, I know it was difficult for Joe. I know Joe didn’t want to sit me.”
From start of 2012 season, Rodriguez struggled to maintain his focus. He did not hit hard and consistently played poorly for over six months. He finished the season with .272 hitting average along with 18 homers, 57 RBIs and .353 OBP.
During his poor run, the Yankees' entire roster supported him and hoped that in the post-season, their star performer will unleash his old valour. However, as soon as post-season approached, he again could not find his old offensive style and remained unsuccessful to catch up to his real style of play.
