Alex Rodriguez’ struggles continue – MLB New York Yankees News
New York Yankees’ slugger Alex Rodriguez finds himself in a very familiar situation this season. For all of his huge salaries and All Star honours, Rodriguez once again failed to live up to the expectations.
Rodriguez is known for his ability to up his game plan in October. However, with every swing and miss, memories of his spectacular performances in Yankees’ 2009 Championship season fade even further.
The fans have also started to show their desperation with some calling for Manager Joe Girardi to drop him from the Number 3 spot in the Yankees’ batting line-up.
Rodriguez had an excellent chance to restore his lost pride in Game 2 of the American League Division Series against the Baltimore Orioles but he struck-out to end the Yankees 3-2 loss, allowing Baltimore to level the series 1-1.
''I think that we're going to do whatever it takes to win this three-game series. Nothing that we do will be something that is just a knee-jerk reaction,'' Girardi said. ''The great thing about this is I have a great group of guys that's very unselfish,
and they really want to win. And that's what we're going to do, what we think is best to win.''
''Sometimes it's just not as easy as just writing a name or taking a guy out, a pitcher out. You have to think about the emotional part,'' Girardi said. ''You always have to think about that as a manager.''
Girardi will be extremely disappointed with what he has seen from Rodriguez in the series against the Orioles. He has been fanned five times in all, going 1-for-9 so far.
Rodriguez will have another chance to turn things around when Yankees take on Baltimore in Game 3 at Yankee Stadium in New York. It will be interesting to see if A-Rod can find his scoring ways against the inform Orioles to shut his critics up.
Hiroki Kuroda, who finished the season with a decent 16-11 record, will be starting for New York against Orioles’ rookie starter Miguel Gonzalez, who struck-out 17 batters in just over 13 innings in two starts against Yankees.
It will be interesting to see if Rodriguez can find something special and put in a good performance for the Yankees.
