Alex Rozhkov seizes Men’s 200m breaststroke title: Day one – 2012 Ukraine Summer Cup
Alex Rozhkov of DPR seized gold medal of the Men’s 200m breaststroke on first day of the 2012 Ukraine Summer Cup in Kharkiv on Monday, May 7.
Rozhkov, who failed to secure a spot on the podium in the 100m breaststroke, elevated his efforts in the distant breaststroke discipline and ensured his place on the top of victory stand for gold medal.
With his nerve-wrecking form in the four-lap discipline, Rozhkov made no mistake and sprinted his way towards the finishing end for gold medal with the timing of 2 minutes and 13.49 seconds.
He was trailed by the gold medallist of 100m discipline, Andrei Kovalenko of K.O, who remained 0.17 seconds apart and snared silver medal of the discipline by touching the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 13.66 seconds.
Third spot of the race was secured by Irakli Bolkvadze of ARD, who stayed almost four seconds slower from the second position holder and emerged on the medal rostrum for bronze medal with the timing of 2 minutes and 17.17 seconds.
Subsequently, Shemberev Maxim of Cues snared fourth position of the event as he was 0.61 seconds apart and clocked a time of 2 minutes and 17.78 seconds.
Maxim remained almost 0.60 seconds faster from his teammate, Herring Dmitry, who made his way towards the finishing end with the timing of 2 minutes and 18.30 seconds for fifth position.
Sixth position of the event was obtained by Card Vitaly of OH, who was 1.05 seconds slower and submitted a time of 2 minutes and 19.35 seconds.
Vitaly was followed by Sergei Dontsov of DPR, who ended his swim in seventh best place by producing a time of 2 minutes and 20.67 seconds.
Last spot of the event was secured by Igor Borysik of DON, who stayed nearly 1.50 seconds apart and finished his swim in eighth best place with the timing of 2 minutes and 22.17 seconds.
Furthermore, the session ended after the completion of all planned events while the position holders received a huge round of applause from the audience for their notable efforts at the prize ceremony of the championship.
