Alex Smith and Michael Crabtree are on the same page, says San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh
Wide receiver Michael Crabtree has emerged as the future star for San Francisco 49ers this year. He has got support and trust of quarterback Alex Smith, who also loves throwing to the receiver.
The chemistry between them is evident as the pair has combined to create plenty of opportunities this season.
Crabtree has already scored three touchdowns this season with eight more games still left. This shows that the receiver has shown a lot of progress as compared to the last two seasons in which he got a total of 10 touchdowns (four in 2011 and six in 2010).
Crabtree has played and started all eight games this season and registered 440 yards on 39 catches. In the recent victory against Arizona Cardinals, he scored two touchdowns, one in the first quarter and the other in the second quarter), giving a strong
lead to his team.
Against Cardinals, Crabtree caught the ball five times and gained 72 yards.
The game was also memorable for Smith as he finished it with nearly a perfect record. The quarterback completed 18 of his 19 passes.
49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh believes that Smith and Crabtree are on the same page and that is why these guys are combining well to generate scoring opportunities more often.
According to the details present on the team’s website, Harbaugh said of the chemistry between the two players after their performance against the Cards:
“It was really evident in this ball game, just two guys really being on the same page. On the first touchdown, perfectly thrown ball and great hands catch. Great strong hands catch by Michael on the stop fade. And then Michael’s second touchdown, just two
guys again, making a play, being on the same page. Knowing body language. Seeing body language. Made eye contact and the two of them made a play. I think that evidence speaks for itself, two guys on the same page.”
Meanwhile, Harbaugh also appreciated wide receiver Randy Moss, who also scored a touchdown in the game, taking the observers back to the days when he was at his prime.
49ers seem to be heading in the right direction with Smith getting plenty of support from his receivers.
