Alex Wold secures Men’s 200m butterfly gold – Southwest Classic Invitational, Arizona
Alex P Wold of Santa Clara-PC secured gold medal of the Men’s 200m butterfly at the 2012 Southwest Classic Invitational in Tucson, Arizona on Saturday, May 5.
The 24-year-old Wold demonstrated his gruelling efforts in the 200m discipline and proved his mettle for gold medal of the 200m event.
With his epic start, he gained a body length lead over his challengers from the start of the race and continued his efforts until the final lap. He stayed prominently ahead of his challengers from the start of the race and clocked a time of 2 minutes and 07.39 seconds for gold medal.
The champion was followed by Russ R Payne of Santa Clara-PC, who reached the victory stand for silver medal with the timing of 2 minutes and 08.07 seconds.
Third spot of the event was secured by JH H Vivadelli of UASU-AZ, who remained almost six seconds slower from his foregoing finisher and tapped the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 14.56 seconds.
The bronze medallist was trailed by Caleb P Veazey of DM-NT, who stayed nearly three seconds slower from his former finisher and emerged on the finishing end with the timing of 2 minutes and 17.02 seconds.
Veazey was followed by Hayden D Thomas of UASU-AZ, who was just half a second behind fourth fastest finisher and transpired on the finishing blockade for fifth position with the timing of 2 minutes and 17.52 seconds.
Meanwhile, the crowd witnessed alluring efforts of Kyle L Ewoldt of SDA-AZ, who finished his swim in sixth best place by submitting a time of 2 minutes and 18.08 seconds.
Seventh best spot of the race was secured by Brian J Stevens of Arizona-AZ, who was 3.59 seconds apart and concluded his race in a time of 2 minutes and 21.67 seconds.
Similarly, Nik R Barkley of AZAC-AZ surfaced on the finishing end as eighth position holder of the event as he rapped the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 28.20 seconds.
Furthermore, the championship ended after the completion of all planned events while the position holders collected accolades after the session.
