Alex lost his place in central http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-Luiz-c10542 in the January transfer window. The 24-year-old Brazilian was signed from Benfica for a fee of £23 million in the winter transfer window.
Since then, Luiz has managed to cement a place in the first team after a highly impressive debut. The main reason Luiz was brought in was to stand-in for Alex, since he was suffering from a long-term injury and was not expected to return for the remainder
of the season.
Even though Alex seems to have now recovered from his knee injury, it is hardly unlikely that he will his place in the first squad waiting for him. Especially with the appointment of former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Porto-c39186 boss Andre Villas-Boas as the new Blues manager.

After 12 goals in 84 appearances in the Eredivisie, Alex finally moved to Chelsea in the 2007-2008 season on a three year deal. Alex was initially brought in as a back-up option for regulars John Terry and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ricardo-Carvalho-c30973.
While he was mainly used as a substitute in his first season at Chelsea, Alex had his chance on becoming more of a regular starter when Carvalho picked up an injury in the 2008-2009 season. While he was good under Luiz Felipe Scolari, Alex was excellent
under Guus Hiddink, having previously played under the Dutch manager at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/PSV-c40281.
He suffered under Italian manager Carlo Ancelotti in his first season, but after the departure of Carvalho to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Real-c30728 Madrid in Ancelotti’s second season at the club, was made to take his place in the starting line-up. Unfortunately, he picked up an injury
and only made 20 appearances in all competitions.
Villas-Boas could already have a replacement lined up for Alex, the 25-year-old http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Portugal-c2984 international Rolando. He has been with the Portuguese giants since 2008 and played a major part in the side that went on to win four trophies.
It was Villas-Boas who led Porto the Primeira League, UEFA Europa League, Portuguese Cup and the Portuguese Supercup. Rolando revealed he would not mind a http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786.
Rolando said in an interview:
“I loved working with Villas-Boas at Porto. If he wants me, he has my number.”
Rolando signed a long-term four year deal with FC Porto from Belenenses in 2008 and since then has made 85 appearances in the domestic league, scoring six goals. Upon arriving at Porto, Rolando wasted no time in establishing himself in the first team.
He has had an extremely successful spell with Porto, but could now be looking for a fresh challenge. The Portuguese defender has his eyes set on a move to Stamford Bridge, but the Blues have yet to make their interest in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rolando-c31583 official.
