Alexander Dale Oen conquers Men’s 100m breast-stroke title – 2011 Paris Open Swimming Championships
Alexander Dale Oen conquered the title of the Men’s 100m breast-stroke on the second day of the 2011 Paris Open Swimming Championships.
The Paris Open is an international swimming championship, which provides a platform to swimming elites to compete with each other before the grand battle at the upcoming 2011 Shanghai World Championships, this July.
Dale Oen of Norway pocketed the title of the breast-stroke event in a winning time of 1 minute and 00.33 seconds. His undisputed effort placed him 0.17 seconds ahead of his following swimmer, Fabio Scozzoli of Italy, who touched the wall for the silver medal
in a wonderful time of 1 minute and 00.51 seconds. France’s Giacomo Perez Dortona followed them on the podium for the bronze medal, by reporting in a time of 1 minute and 00.89 seconds.
Oen is the silver medallist of the 100m breast-stroke at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. He also secured a bronze finish in the same event at the 2006 World Short Course Championships in Shanghai.
The champion demonstrated an irresistible effort in the two-lap race, where he overwhelmed the ferocious efforts of his fellow swimmers, who were trying to escape Oen for the top podium finish.
Felipe Franca Da Silva of Brazil was only 0.20 seconds away from his competitors, as he touched the wall for fourth fastest spot in a time of 1 minute and 01.09 seconds. Mark Gangloff of USA and Da Silva’s team-member, Felipe Lima completed their swim in
the fifth and sixth fastest times of 1:01.13 and 1:01.87 minutes, respectively.
Hendrik Feldwehr of Germany concluded his swim in the seventh fastest place, by posting a time of 1 minute and 01.98 seconds. Finally, Hugues Duboscq of France touched the wall for eighth fastest spot, by submitting a time of 1 minute and 02.22 seconds.
Dale Oen expressed his happiness after winning the title of the 100m breast-stroke event. He also said that he will try to put up a good show in the same event at the 2011 World Championships.
