Alexander Dimitrenko: I am young and possesses more experience than Kubrat Pulev – Boxing News
Alexander Dimitrenko, the former EBU (European) heavyweight champion, recently shared his thoughts about the upcoming clash with Kubrat Pulev, the current IBF International heavyweight champion, and said that he will give a tough time to Kubrat as he is
young and has more experience in his gear which gives him an upper edge.
Alexander and Kubrat will enter the ring in a bout which will have two titles on the line, the vacant EBU (European) heavyweight title and Kubrat’s IBF International heavyweight title up for grabs.
The event is being promoted by the duo of Wilfried Sauerland of Sauerland Event and Ulf Steinforth of Sport Events Steinforth and the Saturday night showdown will be headlined by the WBO cruiserweight championship bout between Marco Huck and Ola Afolabi.
The above duo will co-headline the showdown which will be televised live on May 5, 2012 and will also witness Robert Stieglitz defend his WBO super middleweight title against Nader Hamdan.
Both men recently met at the pre-bout media interaction gathering and shared their feelings and ambitions about the upcoming bout. The duo did not get aggressive at all and put forth their thoughts in a very respective rather cordial manner.
Alexander, 29, has been in a total 33 bouts and emerged victorious in 32. He has nailed 21 of his opponents by knockout and forfeited his EBU (European) heavyweight title after successfully defending it against Albert Sosnowski and Michael Sprott.
The German Dimitrenko, also known as the ‘Sascha’, has won several titles in his illustrious career and as far as the experience is concerned really possesses a clear upper hand over Kubrat.
The Bulgarian Pulev has been in a total 15 bouts and boasts an undefeated win streak. He has never lost even a single bout and has collected seven of his wins by knocking the opponent out cold.
Pulev, well known as ‘The Cobra’, grabbed his IBF title by collecting an impressive unanimous decision win over Travis Walker and later on defended it against the heavily experienced and somewhat favourite Michael Sprott.
Alexander while sharing his resolve commented, “I have been in this business for quite a while now and I am not even in my thirties yet. I have been through ups and downs. Therefore experience-wise I am in front and it will show on Saturday.”
Kubrat, on the other hand, just uttered a one-liner and said, “I don´t want to say too much about the fight. The only thing I will say though is that I will win.” The bout will be televised live on Germany’s ARD and Hungary’s DigiSport channels.
