Alexander Dyukov reveals that Zenit St. Petersburg have started working on a contract extension with Luciano Spalletti.
Following reports in Russia suggesting that Luciano Spalletti, Zenit St. Petersburg head coach, has fallen out with Gazprom, the owners of St. Petersburg, the Meshki president Alexander Dyukov has assured the fans of proceeding
contract talks with the Italian tactician.

and the club have always supported him in difficult times.
Dyukov revealed that Spalletti was disappointed after back-to-back draws in the UEFA Champions League group stage, but added that he should not blame Gazprom for unsupportive behaviour.

The Zenit president revealed that Gazprom are backing the Italian national in the transfer market until he comes up with an inappropriate proposal.
“What Spalletti said is not true. Gazprom has been very supportive financially, but when it comes to football, no one can allow him to crazy spending. You have to carefully monitor the situation before signing players with 50 million
Euros tag.” The Russian national was quoted as saying.
He added: “I know he is upset with the results and I am not surprised he gave too many interviews regarding his position.”
Dyukov went on to admit that Spalletti met with Alexei Miller, Gazprom’s CEO, last week and discussed various issues with the owners. However, he refused to specify further details of the meeting.
“The club have started working on contract extension with Spalletti.” The 44-year-old said.
