Alexander Gustafsson: I am ready to take any of the top five men in the division – UFC News
Alexander Gustafsson, the Swedish mixed martial art proud, put forth the media his desire to take on Jon Jones, the current light heavyweight champion and said that he is ready to take on the top five men in the division.
He added that if UFC President Dana White offers him to take on Jones he will happily accept the offer as he is ready for any brawler in the division.
The Swedish proud recently collected an impressive three-round unanimous decision win over the returning Thiago Silva and has somewhat caught media’s attention who are now eyeballing Alexander and denoting him as the number one contender of Jones title in
the near future.
The light heavyweight division resonates with the names of Jones, Evans, Thiago, Forrest Griffin, Lyoto Machida and others. Alexander has successfully landed himself after the emphatic Silva-win in the top 10 rankings and is now rated alongside above names.
The bout mesmerised the whole Ericsson Globe arena and Alexander’s hometown fans gave a standing ovation to their surging young mixed martial artist. Also known as ‘The Mauler’, Gustafsson has been in a total 15 bouts and emerged victorious in 14. He has
nailed ten of his opponents by knockout, three by submission and just two by decision.
Alexander is duly known as a finisher who strives hard to collect a knockout win whether it comes from his ruthless knees or by his continuous battering in fact Silva was the first and the only man in the whole Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) who has
been able to survive Alexander’s attack and took him till the last second of the last round.
Alexander while expressing his view point about collecting a unanimous decision win over Silva, commented, “It is amazing to win in front of my home country. It’s my first decision, which is new for me, but I’m still learning and progressing and this was
an important experience. This is a dream come true.”
The knockout pounder excitedly shared his feelings regarding a title shot and said, “I [executed] my game plan, but I’m a finisher. I want to fight the top five guys in the world in my division, but if [the UFC] were to give me a title shot, I would be more
than ready if that day comes.”
Alexander currently ranks the ninth in UFC’s light heavyweight rankings and his recent victory has strengthened his win streak to five bouts. The young lad has collected his career’s only defeat by the kicks and fists of Phil Davis.
