Alexander Isakov clinches Men’s 200m backstroke title: Day one – 2012 Ukraine Summer Cup
Alexander Isakov of IFR clinched gold medal of the Men’s 200m backstroke on opening day of the 2012 Ukraine Summer Cup in Kharkiv on Monday, May 7.
Isakov stunned the aquatic crowd with his blistering performance in the distant backstroke discipline and finished his swim in a fastest time for gold medal.
With his invincible efforts, he remained prominently ahead of his challengers throughout the discipline and emerged on the finishing wall for gold medal by clocking a time of 1 minute and 59.48 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Lytvenok Yegor of DPR, who remained almost three seconds slower from the champion and transpired on the finishing end for silver medal by clocking a time of 2 minutes and 02.23 seconds.
The third spot of the event was secured by Alexander Vassiliev of PFA, who stayed just 0.39 seconds apart and stepped on the medal rostrum for bronze medal with the timing of 2 minutes and 02.62 seconds.
Fourth position of the event was secured by Sergei Varvaruk of RVN, who suffered a deficit of almost two seconds and appeared on the finishing end with an effort of 2 minutes and 04.38 seconds.
Varvaruk was trailed by Nikyshenko Andrew of ANW, who was just 0.22 seconds away and ended his swim in fifth best place by clocking a time of 2 minutes and 04.60 seconds.
In the meantime, Black Yegor of DPR proved his eligibility for sixth fastest spot of the event as he was just an inch slower from his foregoing finisher and tapped the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 04.61 seconds.
Yegor was followed by his teammate, Baranets Alexander, who was nearly three seconds behind and surfaced on the finishing end for seventh position by posting a time of 2 minutes and 07.50 seconds.
Last spot of the event was obtained by Kurenkova Roman of Meadow, who submitted a time of 2 minutes and 07.84 seconds for eighth position.
Furthermore, the championship ended after the completion of all listed events while the position holders collected medals and accolades for their wonderful efforts after the session.
