Alexander Isakov pockets Men’s 100m backstroke title: Day one – 2012 Ukraine Summer Cup
Alexander Isakov of IFR claimed gold medal of the Men’s 100m backstroke on opening day of the 2012 Ukraine Summer Cup in Kharkiv on Monday, May 7.
Isakov demonstrated his gruelling efforts in the double lap backstroke discipline and proved his eligibility for the fastest spot of the event.
With his astounding swim, Isakov remained almost one and a half body length faster from his strongest challenger and posted a time of 55.58 seconds for the crown of the event.
Isakov was followed by Alexander Vassiliev of PFA, who stayed 1.35 seconds away and clocked a time of 56.93 seconds for silver medal of the event.
Similarly, Vassiliev remained just 0.01 seconds faster from Lytvenok Yegor of DPR, who completed the podium by securing third position of the event with a timing of 56.94 seconds.
The bronze medallist was followed by Nikyshenko Andrew of ANW, who was just 0.07 seconds slower from upsetting the bronze medallist but settled on the finishing blockade for fourth position with an effort of 57.01 seconds.
Fifth position of the event was obtained by Varvaruk Sergei of RVN, who suffered a loss of 0.12 seconds from his foregoing finisher and tapped the wall with the timing of 57.13 seconds.
Varvaruk was trailed by Black Yegor of DPR, who stayed almost three strokes slower from him and transpired on the finishing end as sixth best finisher by clocking a time of 57.30 seconds.
Subsequently, Yegor remained 0.36 seconds faster from his subsequent challenger, Baranets Alexander of DPR, who emerged on the finishing wall for seventh position by clocking a time of 57.66 seconds.
Following that, Sausage Andrew of DON failed in upsetting any of his competitors in the backstroke discipline. He stayed 0.17 seconds away from overpowering Alexander and posted a time of 57.83 seconds for eighth position.
The arena enjoyed blistering performances of all participants in the 100m discipline while the position holders raked awards and accolades for their powerful efforts at the medal ceremony of the championship.
In addition, the championship concluded after the completion of all planned events in Men and Women’s category.
