The Rossoneri boss hails his team’s win over Novara, and delighted to qualify for the quarter-final of Coppa Italia
A.C Milan manager, Massimiliano Allegri, is delighted with the last 16 round win over Novara in the Coppa Italia on Wednesday, January 18th, 2012.

time.
Allegri believes that his team played good football but they could have avoided the Novara goal. The tactician insisted that his team played extremely well in the extra time, and he is delighted with the qualification into the
next round.
While talking to the reporters, Allegri insisted,
“We unfortunately conceded a goal a minute from the end from a free-kick that was avoidable. We suffered, but it was important to qualify. We did well to remain united and calm and almost made it 3-1 in the end.
The 44-year-old heaped special praise on youngsters, El-Shaarawy and Alexander Merkel, for their impressive performances during the evening. He believes that the young duo have a bright future ahead of them, and they have proved
it.
“I’m happy for all of the team, but especially El Shaarawy who scored and Merkel who proved that he is an important player,” the tactician noted.
Merkel joined the Italian Champion on-loan from Genoa recently.
Allegri allayed fears of Pato picking up a hamstring injury in the dying minutes of the match, and insisted that he only felt a little twinge. He insisted that the Brazilian will be available for the club’s next game at the weekend.
“Pato? He felt a twinge in his thigh and I wanted to avoid any potential problems by bringing him off.”
The former Cagliari boss also expressed his delight over the signing of Lecce’s, Djamel Mesbah. The manager believes that the Algerian star can be an important player for the Champions.
"I'm happy that Djamel Mesbah has joined Milan."
