Alexander Noren eyes another win at the Nordea Masters – Golf news
Alexander Noren has set his sights on taking back the Nordea Masters title, when he tees off this week at the Bro Hof Slott Golf Club in Stockholm, on Thursday, May 30, 2013.
The 2011 edition of the tournament witnessed the Swede star recording an emphatic seven-stroke victory, despite faltering for a 77 in the final round.
After posting 67, 66 and record 63 in the first three rounds respectively, he entered the final round with a staggering 11-shot cushion.
That is why no one in the field managed to match his score, despite his failure over the last 18 holes of the event. Last year, Lee Westwood succeeded him as champion.
The 30-year old Swede now believes that his past experience on the course will hopefully help him in recording the fourth European Tour victory of his career this week.
“I have played Bro Hoff so many times,” he said. “Before I moved to Monaco, I played it every day in the summer when I was home. It’s a bit like the greens at Wentworth last week – if you know where you want to be it makes it a
lot easier. It certainly helps to play there a lot.”
“I feel like my game is in good shape. Last week, tee to green was among the best I have played. I didn’t take advantage of the birdie chances there and made too many two-putts but I feel good coming into this week,” he added.
Courtesy to his three top-10 finishes so far this season, added with home course advantage that Noren holds, he is no doubt a strong candidate for a victory this season.
Peter Hanson will also share Noren’s dream of recording a victory this week, as he returns to action after pulling out his name from last week’s BMW PGA Championship, due to back injury.
Hanson also holds a strong track record in the event, having finished tied third last year and won the 2009 edition of the event.
The winner of the last weeks BMW PGA Championship, Matteo Manassero, in the meantime, has also confirmed his participation in the event.
