Zenit St. Petersburg to retain the Russian Premier League title
Former Zenit St. Petersburg striker, Alexander Panov, while summing up the Meshki performances in the second half of the league, has revealed that his former club have all the attributes to retain the Russian Premier League title
this season.
The Russian Football Union have now added two more fixturess for each team in a bid to initiate a third round to the Russian top division at this stage of the season.
Zenit are currently atop the league table and two points clear from the second spot.

The former Torpedo Moscow player went on to reveal that there are a lot of teams gunning for the third spot and nominated Spartak Moscow, Dynamo Moscow and Lokomotiv Moscow to fight for the last UEFA Champions League spot.

Panov went on to admit that the league has become tighter than ever and gave the example of latest league results where the top four league teams failed to claim all three points. CSKA drew 1-1 against Lokomotiv Moscow, Zenit drew
1-1 against Kuban Krasnodar and Dynamo Moscow’s goal was denied by Spartak Moscow in a closely contested match.
“All matches were very good and interesting. It is very sad that no one wins in these meetings. I think that the fight would have been more interesting if they would have decided a league winner by now.” The Russian national concluded.
The former Dynamo Vologda player is of the opinion that Zenit have the capability to retain their lead atop the league table but they need to find consistency in their performances.
