Alexander Povetkin very happy to fight for the world title against Ruslan Chagaev – Boxing news
The undefeated heavyweight contender Alexander Povetkin, who has won all of his 21 professional fights, with 15 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, is very excited to take on the former World Boxing Association’s heavyweight boxing champion, Ruslan
Chagaev, for the vacant regular WBA title.
The Russian pugilist, Povetkin, who is the number two ranked contender in the WBA heavyweight division, will take on the 32-year-old Uzbekistan’s warrior Ruslan Chagaev, also known as White Tyson on August 27, 2011 at the Messehalle Arena in Erfurt, Germany.
Povetkin, who is widely known as the White Lion, in his interview to a boxing radio stated he is very excited for his fight against Chagaev as he is finally going to fight for the world title.
While speaking on his inclusion, he said, “I’m really, really happy that this fight is finally taking place and that I have the chance to fight for the world title. I am very motivated. I am really looking forward to Saturday, and yeah I’m excited about
the fight!”
Povetkin, a former kick boxer who has won World Junior Championship, World and European professional kickboxing titles, remarked he is ready to go all the way in the ring and hopefully he will put on a great show for his fans.
Povetkin claimed, “I’m ready to go through all twelve rounds, and as for the end we will see what happens Saturday in the ring. I hope you will see my fight on TV on Saturday and I hope you will enjoy it, and I will do my best to show you a beautiful fight.”
Chagaev is also a very skilled boxer, as he holds a record of winning 27 of his 29 professional fights (1 draw), with 17 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout. However, let’s see if the 31-year-old Povetkin can really shrug off Chagaev tonight to claim
the WBA title.
