Alexander Rossi looks forward to take an active part in FP1 of 2013 Canadian GP – Formula 1 News
Caterham reserve driver Alexander Rossi has said that he is positively looking forward to take an active part in the first free practice session of the 2013 Canadian Grand Prix.
Rossi joined Caterham in the preceding season and took part in the Young Driver Test in Abu Dhabi and the FP1 of the Spanish GP. After the last year’s practice in Barcelona, he has been doing aero testing and simulation work. However,
he has been given an opportunity to sit behind the wheel of CT03 at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal.
The American driver has said that he is pleased to get the chance of driving an F1 car in Canada where he claimed an incredible victory with Formula BMW.
“Returning to F1 action is obviously another important step in the plan I've worked over a decade for and I take all the opportunities I get very seriously,” he said.
“This will be my first outing in the CT03 and on the 2013 Pirelli tyres in F1 and it's good that my 2013 F1 debut is on North American soil,” he explained.
“I've raced and won in Montreal back in Formula BMW and I enjoy the circuit a lot - it will be a special feeling to play an active role in the race weekend with the team,” he added.
In addition, he said that although the first practice sessions are not too long, it will be really nice to play an important role for his team. He also said that he is eying to see the progress which has bbeen made in the car since
the last season when he participated in the Young Driver Test.
Moreover, he said that he is very much pleased to work with the Leafield based team as a test driver and is aiming to collect the essential information about the car’s updates in the FP1 in Canada so that they can make further
advancements.
Caterham have not been able to score even a single point in the season so far. Let’s see whether Rossi’s work prove out to be fruitful for his team in the upcoming races or not.
