Alexander Rumyantsev prevails over Rafal Teurer 6-3, 6-1
Right-hander, Alexander Rumyantsev, defeated the local challenger, Rafal Teurer and lucratively journeyed through the second qualifying round of the Szczecin Challenger held in Poland. The Russian junior summed
up his straight sets win, 6-3, 6-1 on Saturday.
The Pole contender commenced the opener with a lead and brought the score line to 2-1 in the third game. Immediately, the Russian challenger activated and evened out the scores to 2-all in the next game. He busted
Teurer’s serve in the fifth game and marked a 3-2 lead. However, he struggled hard but Rumyantsev nudged forward and clamped the set at 6-3.
In the following set, 25-year-old Pole completely lost his confidence and seemed powerless in front of his competitor. The 20-year-old Russian contestant sustained his focus and broke Teurer’s serve in the fourth
game, eventually wrapping up the match with a 6-1 win.
Andriej Kapas ousts Jan-Lennard Struff 6-4, 6-4
Ranked 286th in the ATP World Tour Rankings, Jan-Lennard Struff, received a shocker at the hands of the Polish challenger, Andriej Kapas, in the second qualifying round of Szczecin Challenger.
The local contestant consolidated his straight sets, 6-4, 6-4 win on the eve of Saturday.
The German participant commenced the opening set with his serve but was unable to secure the lead earlier on. The Polish contender broke his rival’s serve in the third game and clinched a 2-1 lead. Struff battled
hard to dominate his rival but the Pole eventually nudged the set with a 6-4 score.
In final set, the 22-year-old German was unable to uphold his beginning serve and bestowed the first two games to his rival, giving him a 2-love lead. However, both the contestants continued to smooth journey
for the rest set. Kapas maintained his strong hold throughout and jolted down his 6-4 win.
