Alexander Serebryakov bags the stage 3 of the 2012 Tour of Taihu Lake stage
Alexander Serebryakov of Team Type 1-Sanofi wins the third stage of the Tour of Taihu Lake 2012 after his heroic performance at the event.
It took him 2 hours, 31 minutes and 2 seconds as he out-sprinted his major opponents during the 114.8 kilometre chase to Xitaihu Lake.
The Russian launched an attack in the final 250 kilometres of the race and managed to get half-a-wheel ahead of the stage 2 winner, Alois Kankovsky of Team ASC Dukla Praha.
Kankovsky had to settle for the second spot with Benjamin Giraud of Team La Pomme Marseille, Sebastian Korber and Michael Schweizer of Team Nutrixxion Abus claimed the third, fourth and fifth positions in the particular order.
Alexander is enjoying a terrific season and he made full use of his absolute form to fill his bag with an important win.
His previous performances in the 2012 season include four stages at the Tour of China and three at the Tour of Hainan 2012.
The 25-year-old was over the moon after winning the race and thanked his teammates for their continuous support throughout the race.
“My teammates have closed the gap to the escapees to perfection,” he cited.
“I was scared at the end because I’ve seen people like [Yuriy] Metlushenko coming on both sides”.
“With the tailwind, it was a very fast sprint but fortunately not as crazy as yesterday when a relay was given like in the Madison”.
“This morning I spoke with some of these guys and I said ‘ok you’re track riders but it’s road racing here’”.
“Every day, we try and win and there will be more occasions because I guess that the remaining five stages will also be bunch sprint finishes,” Serebryakov concluded.
Yannick Martinez succeeded during the first, second, and the third sprints of the race after his marvelous performance during the stage 3 of the Tour of Taihu Lake 2012.
