Alexander Tikhonov seizes Men’s 400m IM gold: Day two - Russian National Championships, Moscow
Alexander Tikhonov seized gold medal of the Men’s 400m Individual Medley (IM) on second day of the Russian National Championships in Moscow on Tuesday, April 17.
Tikhonov showered his expertise in the distant IM event and ensured his gold finish on the podium by clocking a time of 4 minutes and 15.24 seconds.
His stupendous effort was trailed by Dmitriy Gorbunov, who stayed nearly five seconds slower from his foregoing finisher and hit the wall with the timing of 4 minutes and 20.88 seconds for silver medal.
The second position holder was trailed by Andrey Krilov, who was nearly two strokes behind and hit the finishing end with the timing of 4 minutes and 21.15 seconds for bronze medal.
Fourth spot of the event was secured by Iliya Volovnik, who suffered a loss of 0.37 seconds and transpired on the finishing end with an effort of 4 minutes and 21.52 seconds.
He was trailed by Dmitry Shilin, who stayed nearly two stokes slower from his foregoing finisher as he posted a timing of 4 minutes and 23.13 seconds.
Following that, Yulia Efimova dominated the semi-finals of Women’s 100m breaststroke. Efimova stifled hopes of her challengers as she cruised her way towards the finishing end with the timing of 1 minute and 06.92 seconds.
Her fastest qualification effort was trailed by Dania Deeva, who was almost two seconds slower from her preceding swimmer and emerged on the wall with an effort of 1 minute and 08.81 seconds.
Deeva was followed by Anastasia Tzaun, who proved her eligibility for the third fastest qualification spot of the race by producing an effort of 1 minute and 09.15 seconds.
She was followed by Valentina Artemyeva, who stayed 0.30 seconds behind Tzaun and tapped the finishing wall with the effort of 1 minute and 09.45 seconds for fourth position.
Fifth position of the discipline was secured by Irina Novikova, who concluded her race with the timing of 1 minute and 09.97 seconds.
The session ended after the completion of all planned events while the position holders were awarded accolades for their notable efforts at the prize ceremony of the championship.
