The former Bayern Munich attacker has urged the Munich giants not to be complacent against Real Madrid in the second-leg of their Champions League last-four.
Former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alexander-Zickler-c4875, has revealed his desire to see his former employers Bayern Munich in the final of the UEFA Champions League. He was talking ahead of the Reds’ encounter against Los Blancos scheduled
to take place at the Santiago Bernabeu on April 25.
Both clubs are still in contention of progressing through to the final with Bayern still in ascendency after the first-leg. The Bavarian giants emerged as 2-1 winners in the first phase played at the Allianz Arena courtesy of goals
from Mario Gomez and Franck Ribery. Mesut Ozil scored an important away goal for the visitors.
There are seven players in Jupp Heynckes’ team who are on a booking and another yellow against Madrid will rule them out of the final if Bayern progress. However, Zickler stated that the Reds must ignore this warning and play their
natural game. He suggested that the Allianz Arena outfit must take one game at a time and try preventing the hosts from taking an early lead.
While talking to Goal.com, the 38-year-old further added: "You have to think from game to game and not to the final. First they have to survive in Madrid. When it comes to a tricky situation where, for example, a tactical foul
is necessary to prevent a counter, then you have to bite the bullet."
On the other hand, he compared this Bayern side with the team that won the 2001 Champions League. He reckoned that this team possesses better quality but certainly is not superior to the side from the past in terms of teamwork
and cohesion.
"I think that it's difficult to make the comparison. Looking at both sides, I must admit that the team today have more quality. In terms of teamwork and cohesion I see our team [from 2001] as a bit stronger," Zickler concluded.
The winner from this game will take on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 in the final on May 19 at the Munich’s Allianz Arena.
